Sir Francis Villa
They say that from the Pirate Tower, situated facing the Conejera Island, the Ibizans used to watch for the arrival of the most ruthless pirates. This way they could light torches at the top of the tower to warn about the imminent danger. During my nights at the Sir Francis Villa I became absorbed in my thoughts for long periods of time, letting my imagination run wild wondering what those adventures of the past were like.
The villa fascinated me. It’s incredible location at the top of a hill surrounded by a large pine tree grove ensured us absolute peace and privacy. There we enjoyed what I consider to be one of the best sunsets from a villa in Ibiza. That’s because it’s located in the area of the Cala Conta and Cala Bassa beaches, the latter being one of the best fine sand beaches. We often went to the Cala Bassa Beach Club to have a guaranteed great time at the Taittinger Lounge.
The minimalist villa, designed by one of the most renowned Ibizan architects, really surprised me because of its connection with nature despite being full of dimensions, angles, walls and glass forms. It fits perfectly into the landscape without disturbing or transforming it.
Its six bedrooms are magnificent, and they’re distributed among the house’s three floors. In the main one, at the top of the house, we also had access to an attached studio, private terrace, and some spectacular views of the sea, even visible from the bathtub built into the floor. I found the impeccable living room, designed with transparent walls, a minimalist fireplace, and an abundance of space and views, to be absolutely delightful.
What we enjoyed most about this villa was the lovely porch where were had our lunches and dinners. We prolonged them with long discussions while being captivated watching the sea, immersed in an oasis of peace and quiet. The pristine pool had a wide edge where we could lounge, with our cocktails, and enjoy the amazing sunsets.
I will always fondly remember those pure moments of happiness.
