After docking at the Ibiza Marina, we got off the boat and treated ourselves to a delicious latte macchiato at The Cappuccino. We took the cars to get to Villa Rocaviva and in 5 minutes we had arrived. Almost at the very end of the road, we found the house mounted on top of the Can Pep Simó mountain.
When I entered the house I was surprised to find that it was literally built into the mountain itself, blending in the bare rock walls, that for some reason I always touched while walking by, with the building’s own minimalist structure.
I really liked the modern decoration with high quality furniture and just how spacious the house was in general (380 m2 ), and not just the 4 bedrooms and bathrooms (one with a king-sized Jacuzzi with views of the sea), but the rest of the spaces too. The large floor-length windows impressively open to both the Ibiza and Talamanca Bay, and they really bring the house to life while giving the privilege of 180? views.
In my opinion, one of the most fun spots, while also being one of the most relaxing was the gorgeous infinity edge pool, which gave us many happy moments. It was fused with the Dalt Vila walls on one side, and with the sea and Formentera on the other, all providing a complete feeling of relaxation. We really took advantage of the pool at all hours of the day, whether we were standing in it with our cocktails and appetizers in hand or watching the city’s bustle during our night swims or all the yacht traffic leaving port during our morning ones.
It’s a house we definitely made the most out of during our stay. Because of its proximity to the Ibiza port, it seemed ideal if you fancy sailing. It is also very close to Ibizan restaurants, shops, dance clubs, etc., and other spots close by, like El Destino or the restaurant Sa Punta, are within walking distance.
I have one particular image instilled in my mind from this stay at Villa Rocaviva: during one evening we were returning from Formentera, and while pulling into the port I was looking off the starboard side at the mountain’s height in the distance, and I thought to myself… and now, that is what’s waiting for us. Unforgettable.
