We tricked our friends by saying that we were inviting them to join us for a hippie weekend in a dream spot, when actually we wanted them there to celebrate our symbolic wedding. We chose Pattege Villa because we heard that it was one of Ibiza’s best and most authentic houses and we were very excited to see for ourselves.
The house, a genuine country home built in 1705 and very nicely and tastefully restored, still preserves that old feeling with its wood-fired oven, fireplace, lathes, and framework. Even the decorative details remind us that that time period must have been very different for the island’s inhabitants. The house comes with spectacular surroundings and stunning views of Ibiza and of the sea, with Formentera as the backdrop. It’s located next to Sant Jordi and only 5 minutes by car from Ibiza Town. It’s also in the prime spot for going on excursions to beaches and to the island’s most beautiful corners, with all sorts of services in reach.
The large property spanning over 20,000 m2 offers lots of privacy and is extremely comfortable and homely. There are several spaces that made our stay very pleasant and our big surprise very easy to prepare. Upon arrival we set our friends up in the 6 double bedrooms with 5 bathrooms and proposed the idea of celebrating that night a hippie party with everyone appropriately dressed for the occasion. Then we all met at the pool at the designated time and, with the champagne reaching the perfect temperature, we exchanged our vows. It was a very symbolic and moving way to seal our union and celebrate our love for one another. Our friends loved the surprise, and just as we hoped, the pleasant atmosphere and tremendous fun were a constant those days. Experiencing the wonderful Ibiza nights and the area’s excellent gastronomy. This time, our culinary discovery was El Zaguán, a place with pure Spanish-style tapas. We had a blast at the Nassau Tanit Beach Club at the Den Bossa beach 5 minutes from the house. Occasionally, we wrapped up the day with a quiet night on the porch or around the pool just talking and gazing at the stars. Other nights were spent inside the house in the incredible rec room with a disco-bar area. Having this to ourselves was like going back to when we were kids, a room full of games like pool, table football, darts, pinball, etc., and a mixing desk to DJ our own music.
In a moment of clarity, my newly wedded husband and I decided to extend our holiday. Just the two of us stayed a few extra days at the Pattege Villa celebrating our honeymoon. There’s no better way to start a marriage!
