At least once a year, my husband and I usually organise a nice getaway with our best friends: parents of 14 year-old twin girls, almost the same age as our daughter. In Casbah Villa, located in the outskirts of Ibiza Town, we had the perfect amount of space so that our 2 families could have their own privacy, while still being able to enjoy the wonders of the island together. For us, the property was a total gem for various reasons: for its location, considering how rare it is to find a villa this size and quality so close to Ibiza Town; for its rich history, since it has been passed down through a family who has cared greatly about maintaining the landscape and Ibizan-style architecture; and finally for its two-floor layout, letting the 2 families stay separately, while still comfortably housing all 7 people and 1 staff member.
We stayed on the first floor, which has a master suite with a king size bed, dream bathtub with panoramic views, dressing room, private terrace, and is directly accessible by lift. Our daughter had the other double bedroom with similar characteristics. Our friends stayed on ground floor, where the other 4 bedrooms were. One had a fireplace, magnificent views, and a very unique staircase that lead up to the in-suite bathroom that had a door out to the garden. The other double bedrooms were occupied by the twins, and the individual room, by the staff worker who made our lives very easy during this holiday. By the way, we thought the Campos de Ibiza toiletries left on the dressing tables were a lovely touch.
The house, 600 m2, lies amongst 5,000 square metres of land and is built around a beautiful central patio, which bathes the whole house in light and warmth and at night turns into a magical outdoor space. The décor has been designed with attention to every detail, from the unique front door and its welcoming vestibule to the spaces that never ceased to amaze us. Such spaces are the library with a cosy reading corner, the separate dining room capable of seating more than a dozen people, and the perfectly equipped main kitchen with access to a terrace with spectacular views of the surroundings. In fact, because of its fantastic elevated location in Puig den Valls, the villa treated us to marvellous views of the sea, Port of Ibiza, Formentera, Talamanca beach, and Dalt Vila (the historic centre of Ibiza recently declared an UNESCO World Heritage site).
The house’s exterior has just as many niceties as the inside. The swimming pool (12 x 6 m) was a big hit with the girls and the living room with traditional Ibizan stone walls, designer furniture, and access to the large terrace turned into one of our favourite spots. Everything in Casbah Villa was absolutely delightful; it is a luxury house with all the flavour of Ibiza’s countryside and sea.
