The word luxury comes from the Latin word luxux: a light or a force that attracts certain people. It is a fascination, the power of a selective attraction that not everyone can perceive. For me, this is the essence of Luxux Villa. Even if it was just for one occasion, I feel privileged to have been able to experience this Ibizan luxury.
Luxux Villa is without a doubt one of the most exclusive properties in Ibiza. Mounted on the top of an incredible cliff next to Cala Mastella, this gem offers spectacular sea views from an endless amount of spots around the property. The villa is composed of three independent houses, with about eighty metres between all of them.
When we got to the villa, a nice grounds-keeper gave us a warm welcome and the directions to drive through a path of tall cypress trees, leaving behind a putting green belonging only to the villa. Then we drove around the entire 43,000-m2 estate via a winding road that went from one end to the other, travelling through the beautiful gardens with more than 1500 palm trees and an endless array of lush and well-kept trees. The ponds were full of fish and birds, waterfalls, pergolas, bridges, pagodas, and countless cosy and charming corners, which invited me to reconnect with the total peace and quiet.
The lowest part of the property contains the main house and, just a short distance away, one of the other houses. During our stay in the main house we were able to enjoy the use of its large grassy esplanade, its enormous terraces, and its swimming pool with waterfront views; three spaces separating the house from the vast sea.
When you spend a few days at the Luxux Villa, you end up appreciating more the work of Mr Rolph Blakstad Sr, and you discover that this is undoubtedly one of his best works of architecture. Everything is meticulously planned and designed for the enjoyment and wellbeing of the guests: the positioning of the houses offering us 270? views of the sea, the design of the pool incorporating large white rounded-off rocks to relax on while taking a dip, the large grassy esplanade, the brightness of the rooms where large floor-length windows are fitted with hardwood framing all throughout the house, the design of the terraces with their hammocks, the comfort of the living room and the dining room or the delightful suite; a space highly regarded for those practicing feng shui.
In this main house we settled ourselves among the two floors, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a professional-grade kitchen, several sitting rooms, and terraces. In the basement, there is also a home cinema, a disco-bar area, and a pool table where I lost every time I played.
Some of the things we liked doing most while being on the island were the excursions to Formentera and navigating along the northern coast of Ibiza. Because we could reach the sea by going down a few stairs carved out of the rocks, our captain came to pick us up directly from the villa. There we had our own dock that provided boating services and equipment to take part in other water sports. Even further below, there was an area with everything prepared for a romantic dinner on a rock surrounded by the sea (although slightly complicated if the ladies wear heeled shoes).
A special mention to the services that come included with the house, like the chef who prepared a pasta dish al dente in the purest Italian style, the waiters, housekeepers, and our chauffeurs who drove us all over the island in two luxurious Mercedes vans.
About 30 m from this house sits one of the other houses, also with access to the garden. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room and kitchen, a beautiful terrace and porch, an infrared sauna, and a huge fitness room equipped with Cybex machines, where a personal trainer gave us custom fitness classes.
In the interior of the estate, just about 120 m from the main house, we found the third house. In structure and features it was a copy of the previous one, however, with its own charm and stunning sea views it was like a peaceful haven within the property. Nearby we had access to a lovely vegetable garden, cactus garden, a grass tennis court, and a little higher up an immense outdoor Olympic-sized heated swimming pool; it was perfect for my morning dips with its own swim-up bar and Jacuzzi.
Clearly this is a villa that leaves nobody feeling indifferent, and even today it is very present in my mind, in my cherished memories, because there I was able to savour unforgettable moments of happiness.
