Ibiza’s Most Hippie Spots to Visit During Holy Week
There’s less than a month until Holy Week, and if you come to Ibiza this time of year, we recommend that during your stay you check out a few of the most hippie spots. Spring has arrived, and with it, the sun and positive energy are shining throughout the whole island. In our opinion, it’s one of the best times to enjoy the most authentic Ibiza.
The hippie movement is one of the best representations of the lifestyle in Ibiza. On the island you can find interesting stories and very colourful people in the most hidden places. Would you like to see for yourself? We’ll tell you how to find them this Holy Week.
In the middle of Ibiza’s countryside, between Sant Miquel and Sant Mateu, there is this bar known for its delicious little sandwiches (montaditos): country bread with cheeses and cured sausages. They’re open all day, making it an excellent option for eating at any hour. If your morning excursion goes on longer than planned, you can take your time getting here. The best part about this place is that it’s hardly known by tourists. A perfect spot to stop at after exploring the island’s country trails.
If this Holy Week won’t be your first time on the island, it’s likely that you’ve already seen the famous green heart pins or stickers from this place. The Casita Verde is located in a beautiful valley in Sant Josep. It’s an ecological centre showcasing sustainable living through the use of alternative energies.
Every Sunday they organise an open-day event, which we encourage you to visit. You can taste their healthy, delicious vegetarian cooking, learn how to make fresh juices, learn about all of the facilities and way of life on the property, listen to live music, and relax with massages and natural beauty treatments… A wonderful day spent in the island’s most hippie environment.
Mercat de Forada
Besides the famous and already known Ibiza hippie markets, we’d like to show you an alternative place that’s not very well known by the island’s tourist industry. Are you up for seeing the hidden side of Ibiza? The Mercat de Forada, organised by the Cooperativa Integral d’Eivissa, is open every Saturday in Buscastell, in front of a picturesque and lovely little bar called Can Tixedó. The market has local, hand-crafted, healthy, and natural products. You can also enjoy great live music and themed activities within this completely rural atmosphere.
A Magical Sunset
From the month of April on, every Sunday we can enjoy the drumming parties at Benirràs Beach: an event that continues to be celebrated after the lasting legacy that the island’s authentic hippies left us. The sky and sea become painted with an array of colours during this magical moment, while this picturesque scene is joined by the beating of the drums.
Have you liked our suggestions? Next week we’ll be back with much more, with the goal of showing you everything the island is hiding: from its most hippie spots for this Holy Week, to its most exclusive places. Everything necessary so that your stay is a collection of happy moments. Peace & Love.
